Mims Distributing Company And Ballast Point Brewing Company Celebrate Brewery’s 20th Anniversary
Award-Winning California Brewery Marks Milestone With Limited Release Of Anniversary Beers
RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 15, 2016 – Mims Distributing Company, a leading wholesale beverage distributor in North Carolina, joins the celebration of its partner Ballast Point Brewing Company’s 20th anniversary. Known for pushing the envelope in the craft beer industry, Ballast Point is a highly sought after in the Triangle, which is a testament to the brewery’s “dedication to the craft” for the past two decades. The theme for the anniversary and surrounding celebrations will be “Back To Our Roots,” to commemorate how the brewery began and where it is today.
As a part of the anniversary, Ballast Point will be utilizing the “Roots to Boots” program, a research and development program allowing employees to concept, design, formulate and name a brew of their own. The program allows teams of two to five Ballast Point employees to create their own beer to be offered for a limited time at select bottle shops and featured anniversary events in the Triangle. This year’s line of beers was brewed at Ballast Point’s R&D brewing facility in San Diego’s Little Italy, and includes:
• American Wheat with Cherries (4% ABV) – This award-winning take on the classic American Wheat infuses tart cherries to create a perfect balance of flavor.
• Belgian Tripel Ale (10% ABV) – The Tripel Ale presents a dense and creamy head, combined with the strong, rich and fullness of clean Belgian character.
• Double India Pale Ale (8.5% ABV) – Some would say IPAs are our specialty – Ballast Point never stops trying to perfect them. This Double IPA drinks like a lower ABV IPA, at a hefty 8.5 percent ABV.
• Schwarzbier (5.3% ABV) – As one of Ballast Point’s first recipes developed at its R&D brewing facility, they brewery is happy to bring back this lager with a deep dark color, yet light taste.
• Biere de Garde (8.9% ABV) – First brewed in 2015, this recipe offers smooth, complex layers of malt with a hint of spicy Saison flavor.
These special brews along with the entire Ballast Point portfolio are representative of the brewery’s passion for great beer and its approach to make things differently from everyone else. The community plays a large role in the success of the brewery and this anniversary celebrates them. Mims Distributing is proud to partner with Ballast Point as they both continue to strive for the best brews for craft lovers to enjoy.

ABOUT BALLAST POINT:
What started in 1996 as a small group of home brewers who simply wanted to make great beer evolved into the team of adventurers known today as Ballast Point. From bringing a hoppy twist to a porter, or adding four types of malt to its amber ale, to creating a breakthrough gold-medal winning IPA, the San Diego-based company is known for adding its own touch and asking if there’s a better way. Not satisfied with just brewing great beer, they got into the distilling business to see if they could add their own spin to another centuries-old craft. Today an internationally recognized leader in the craft brewing and spirits industry, the company makes over 50 styles of beer and bottles 14 spirits.
