North Carolina Beer And Wine Distributor
Contributes To Sustainability Efforts At Annual Banquet
RALEIGH, N.C., April. 8, 2015 – Mims Distributing Company, a North Carolina wholesale beverage distributor, announced its partnership with Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) as the exclusive beer sponsor at the annual banquet on Thursday, April 23. The banquet is one of 15 events CCA holds throughout North Carolina to raise awareness of the importance of marine resources and environmental conservation. The banquet begins at 6:30 p.m., following the CCA’s fishing expo from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Kerr Scott Building on the NC State Fairgrounds.
Celebrating over 50 years in North Carolina, Mims Distributing has been committed to environmental conservation throughout the state. In 2011, the company moved to a newly renovated facility, which includes one of the largest private solar rooftops in Wake County and bio-retention ponds to minimize on-site water consumption. Mims Distributing advocates for safe and sustainable environmental practices, especially water conservation, as beer and wine production requires water. This partnership with CCA is one of many relationships Mims fosters in an effort to raise awareness for the cause.
Proceeds from the CCA banquet will go toward preserving North Carolina’s coastal marine resources, including the Save NC Sounds initiative. Launched this past fall, Save NC Sounds helps educate the public and lawmakers about the damage to the coastal waters caused by destructive fishing gear.

“We are honored to work with Coastal Conservation Association and donate to its annual banquet, which helps preserve our state’s precious coastal resources,” said Jeff Mims, chief sales officer of Mims Distributing Company. “We appreciate all the work these guys do to support our marine conservation, and we are happy to partner and help drive awareness.”
“The Coastal Conservation Association is proud of the conservation awareness success we have experienced headed into our fourth annual banquet. The funds raised from the Triangle Chapter banquet will help continue our efforts to conserve North Carolina’s coastal marine resources and educate the public on the opportunity to reduce harmful fishing practices,” said Todd Shamel, assistant director of CCA North Carolina. “We appreciate the opportunity to work with Mims Distributing to expand our efforts and create a brighter future for the state.”

ABOUT COASTAL CONSERVATION ASSOCIATION:
Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) is a non-profit organization with 17 coastal state chapters spanning the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic seaboard, and the Pacific Northwest. CCA began in 1977 after drastic commercial overfishing along the Texas coast decimated redfish and speckled trout populations. Fourteen concerned recreational anglers created the Gulf Coast Conservation Association to combat commercial overfishing. The stewardship started with the “Save the Redfish” campaign, and by 1985, chapters had formed along the Gulf Coast. By the early ‘90s, the mid-Atlantic region and the New England had chapters. Washington and Oregon opened CCA chapters in 2007. CCA has participated productively in virtually every national fisheries debate since 1984. In the federal court system, CCA’s legal defense fund has been used to defend net bans; fight for the implementation of bycatch reduction devices; support pro-fisheries legislation; and battle arbitrary no-fishing zones. The CCA network is engaged in hundreds of local, state, and national projects that initiate scientific studies; fund marine-science scholarships; build artificial reefs; create finfish hatcheries; initiate hydrologic and contaminant studies; monitor freshwater inflows; support local marine law enforcement; and more. Through broad-based recreational angler support; a strong legal and legislative presence; decades of experience; and an unwavering vision for the future of U.S. and global marine resources, CCA battles for the sustainable health of our coastal fisheries and for recreational anglers’ interests.
